Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Luke 9:28b-36

It is so much easier to complain than to appreciate what is going well. It is easy to find fault rather than be content with what is going well. So often I catch myself describing an event as, “It was so good for x, y, and z reasons, but . . .” Perhaps you can relate?

On the mountain top, Peter says, “Master, it is good that we are here.” This phrase has been a challenge for me personally to grow with the past few months.

It is good that I am here--
-when the baby is up at night and I am the only one who can comfort her.
-to celebrate with our oldest when his team wins the game.
-when the kitchen is a mess because our 7-year-old insists she can make cookies on her own.
-when my husband is away on a work trip and I am learning how to reset the well pump on my own.
-when our 5-year-old learns a new reading or math skill.
-when our 9-year-old is struggling to handle her strong emotions.
-when we are stuck in traffic for an extra hour on top of an already long car trip.

You can fill in the blanks with moments from your own life. This present moment, this very one while you read this reflection, it is good that you are here. Why? Because God is here. God is with us in the present moment. He was with us in the past, and He will be with us in the future, but right now, this very second, He is with you. No matter what joy or sorrow is happening, it is good to be here because He is here.

Ponder:

In what way is God calling you to join your voice with Peter's and say honestly, "Lord, it is good for me to be here"?

Pray:

Dear Lord, thank You for always being with us in every moment of every day. Please help me to recognize Your presence with me no matter what circumstances come my way.
