Today's Gospel: John 10:31-42

Look at the evidence. That’s something the Jewish leaders did not want to do. Jesus performed many miracles, and fulfilled Old Testament prophecies about the coming Messiah, but many of the leaders were too wrapped up in their reputations, power, and the trappings of their daily lives. They believed there was much that they would have to give up and no benefit to them if they formally accepted Jesus as the Christ. They chose the worldly way out, and killed the innocent Son of God. In so doing, they rejected God’s love.

Jesus comes to each and every one of us, every day, asking, “Who do YOU say that I am?" Do we wriggle and squirm, afraid to make waves or be shunned for following the call of Christ? Or do we look at the evidence, embrace the truth, or step out in faith like St. Peter and embrace Eternal Love, saying to Jesus, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God?”

Ponder:

As a mother, do I sometimes worry more about what friends think than what God is calling me to?

Pray:

Eternal Father, give me the faith, the courage, and the trust that I need to raise a family strong in faith. Blessed Mother, and St. Joseph, pray for us!
