Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Luke 4:24-30

Jesus was “unfriended” by people who thought they knew Him best. Jesus, undeterred, walked away from the crowd, kept living God’s plan, and cultivated relationships with others who desired to hear the Gospel.

If He wasn’t accepted by His own people, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to us when we’re discredited and looked down upon. Sometimes in our vocation, especially as wives and mothers, we can be ridiculed for responding to the voice in our hearts and living our faith in a new way. We have comfort in knowing that this happened to Jesus, too. He walked away from the crowd, and continued on His mission. So we should, too. If we allow this criticism to take root, His personal mission for our lives is compromised. If we let this criticism have any sway, these thoughts and negative influences can limit the potential God has made us for.

What are the results of following Christ’s call? In this passage we see the prophet Elijah, blessing the widow and healing the doubter. What might God do for others if we simply listen to His call, step out in faith, and leave the crowd behind?

Ponder:

Is God preparing you to step out of your norm and to take on a bit of a spiritual challenge by beginning or participating in a Bible study at your parish, becoming a religious education teacher, or starting a parish youth group?  How are you called to proclaim the Gospel?

Pray:

Dear Lord, You have called me your very own. Let me give myself to You and glorify You with my life. Guide me as I discern Your special call for me within my vocation.
