Today's Gospel: Luke 19:11-28
Your calling as a woman of God can be overwhelming at times. Maybe you’re using your skills in a career outside the home, serving in your parish family, or tending to the needs of people elsewhere in your communities through volunteer work. Perhaps you’re managing a busy household filled with rambunctious littles. The modern world doesn’t give much credit to cooking lunches on the go, taming unruly piles of laundry, or comforting a teething baby, but don’t let the world and its ways pressure you to think that mothering is not worthy in itself. It is a silent striving for the best of God’s blessings.
The Lord has given each of us talents to work with for the sake of His Kingdom. Our life here on earth can be considered our grace period, and at the end of it, each one will be asked about her investments. What have you done with the spiritual principal entrusted to you? Has your faith grown the interests of anyone?
Each one of us is given a special mission. We are encouraged to take a chance, to develop personal talents, and to put effort into increasing our own deposit of faith by sharing the Gospel with others. We give all we have, and God blesses us in return. Let us be good stewards of the faith He has entrusted to us and put our gifts and talents to good use.
Ponder:
Prayerfully consider the gifts that the Lord has blessed you with. With the demands of your vocation, is there time for you to improve on and employ these outside the home, perhaps in your parish or social circle? Is there a practical way for you to put them to work for the sake of sharing the Gospel?
Pray:
Heavenly king, thank You for the talents You have entrusted me with. I’m asking for direction and discernment in using the gifts You’ve given me.
