Today's Gospel: John 6:44-51
All roads to heaven go through Jesus, our living bread, our food for the journey. His special gift of the Eucharist gives us the graces we need to follow Him. It always amazes me how calmly and lovingly Jesus offered this Sacrament during the Last Supper, even knowing what He would face later that night.
When He preached to the crowds that "unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you (John 6:53)," many of His disciples went away. He didn't call them back when they said it was a hard saying. He never said that it was just symbolic.
Our Lord's sacrifice on the cross continues through the Hoy Sacrifice of the Mass, when the priest blesses the bread and wine and prays that it "may become the body and blood of Your Son ur Lord Jesus Christ." The bell rings for the first time.
In Adoration, we gaze at the Real Presence of Jesus. Adoration is fuel for the soul. It's imperative for all Catholics to believe in the Real Presence, and then all Christians, so that we may be united as is His Will.
Let us partake of the Eucharist with faith, reverence, and gratitude. It is truly the Body and Blood of Our Savior, who wants to be with us in every way possible.

Do we give the Sacrament of the Eucharist the respect and reverence it deserves?

Please help us to come to the table with gratitude, Lord. Help me to receive Your grace.
