Today's Gospel: John 3:16-21

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. - John 3:16

Christians know this verse quite well. We hear it frequently. We say it frequently. But I have to wonder, have we understood what it really means to us?

Do we know in our hearts that God loves us? How aware are we of the gift of Jesus? Do we see Him as a gift?

I wonder how often I have missed recognizing God's presence and action in my life. And how much time do I spend with Him? Do I pray every day? Is prayer a priority? My focus is often too much on me and my worries and my plans and my needs. Jesus can be standing right in front of me, but if I am thinking too much of myself, then I am not seeing Jesus.

Why not just give Him my worries and my needs? And my love.

If I am really seeing Jesus, if I am meditating on Him and His presence in my life, then I am so grateful, so thankful and so filled with joy, I can hardly stay in my shoes! I just want to dance. And sing!

God loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son. His Son suffered and died for us.

Out of love.

When everything is said and done, we are infinitely loved. - Pope St. Francis, The Joy of the Gospel.

Ponder:

Do I live my life with the joy and the knowledge that God loves me?

Pray:

Jesus, thank You for loving me. Help me to put You first in my life and to recognize You in all things.
