Reflect on John 14:1-6 and find comfort in trusting God. Discover how to stay spiritually grounded amidst life's trials and uncertainties.

Today's Gospel: John 14:1-6

St. Joseph is a wonderful model of faith and trust. He showed us that as a father and carpenter he always trusted in God’s will even when it was dangerous and unknown.

His trust was so great that even in trials, he slept deeply and rested. For this reason, many of us have a statue of sleeping St. Joseph close to our beds. I know I do.

In today’s Gospel, St. John reminds us that our hearts shouldn’t be troubled because of the faith we should have in our Lord.

This is not as easy as it sounds. In today’s economy and with all the violence and confusion in the world, we forget that our hearts shouldn’t be troubled because God is in control. I think that we get lost in what’s going on and start following the noise of the world instead of staying close to the Lord, even when we don’t know what the worldly outcome.

I am glad that St. John wrote this down because we need this reminder consistently. I know when I don’t have the words to pray, I like to read my favorite passages in the Bible. You are right if you guessed that this is passage is one I read often and try to remember.

Ponder:

When is it the easiest to lose your way spiritually?

Pray:

Lord, help me to stay close to You even when I am worried and seem to lose my way.

Pray Together:

Pick up your Bible and tab or highlight your favorite passages or those you want to memorize.
