Today's Gospel: Mark 11:27-33
“By what authority are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do them?”
Mark 11:28
Two thousand years later, the questions haven't changed much. Here we are, demanding to know what gives God the right to be in charge. It really all boils down to us, in our fallen nature, wanting things our way rather than God's way.
So we try to play mind games with God--even though we should know from reading passages like this one that we'll never match wits with God and come out the winner. Jesus didn't need to prove anything through logical arguments. All the proof we need is in His death and Resurrection. It's not logical that our Lord and Savior would die a humiliating death for the sake of sinners like us, but God's logic is not our logic. And God's actions tell us all we need to know about His authority.
Ponder:
Am I playing mind games with God? In what ways am I called to surrender my need to know and open myself up to faith?
Pray:
Jesus, help me today to question You less and trust You more.
