Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Matthew 6:19-23

In the garden there are several layers of sunlight and shade: full sun, light dappled shade, partial or moving shade, and consistently dense shade. Depending on the nature of plants, each will grow well in its intended environment.

A plant designed to grow in dense shade with die in the full glare of the sun, and the one that thrives in light shade will succumb to the prolonged darkness of heavy shade. But all plants experience light at some level. None are in a continuous full darkness that night imposes.

We as humans also thrive in the level of light that God had chosen for us to live in. Some of us live a life of full sun with minimal obstacles blocking God’s light. Others work through levels of darkness that move throughout our life, allowing light to filter through. And there are those who work for God in difficult and dense suffering, but are graced in such a way to endure in this environment.

We reflect the Creator’s wisdom and goodness (CCC 369) in whichever intensity of his Light we dwell. We know him in the dense suffering as we do in the brilliant open truth. There is always light.

Ponder:

Take time to sit with Our Lord and reflect on what level of God’s light you were created to thrive within.

Pray:

Heavenly Father, thank You for always being the Light in my world, whether I reflect Your goodness in dense shade or in the full brilliance of Your presence.
