Today's Gospel: Matthew 11:20-24

Sometimes, I wonder if Jesus is thinking, “What will it take for you to follow me?” He seems to leave so many blessings at my feet, like keepsakes of His promises. And yet, I can be stubborn, mired in my way of doing things, reluctant to reform.

While at times Jesus’ voice is a small whisper, at other times He must shout from the rooftops to get my attention. Perhaps you find yourself in a similar position. You are so wrapped up in your own agenda that you forget to pause and ask yourself, “Am I on the right path?”

Jesus’ reproach to the towns that were unrepentant, despite the miracles He had performed, was based in love. He wants all to be saved—every one of us to taste the splendor of heaven. He does not want to leave anyone behind.

I recall words that my mother spoke to me when I was very young, based upon a quote from my great aunt, who was a Sister of St. Joseph: “That will not do."

If we call upon God, He will shower His grace on us. By delving into His Word by reading Scripture, and by partaking of the Sacraments of Reconcili

Ponder:

In what areas of my life do I need to reform?

Pray:

Dear Lord, please illuminate the dark recesses of my soul and give me the strength to cast out the darkness. Help me to be a light for others.
