Today's Gospel: Matthew 10:16-23
“For it will not be you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” Matthew 10:20
How many times have I wished I allowed myself to stop and seek the counsel of my Father in heaven before speaking? The answer is too many to count. Just as Jesus instructed the disciples to acknowledge the Spirit working through them, so must we let God transform us.
I’d imagine the disciples feared speaking out in truth at times, but they put their trust in Jesus and His promise of the Spirit to guide them. Our conviction for the love of God and our inherent faith should outweigh the fears of what people will think or how they will respond.
Ponder:
How can I be an example to others and speak out on behalf of God and my faith?
Pray:
Father in Heaven, you gave us Your Son as a teacher among many. I ask You to bless my life with the wisdom and conviction to step out in faith as a follower of Christ.
