Today's Gospel: John 20:1-2, 11-18

Today is the feast of St Mary Magdalene. I firmly believe that saints choose us to befriend, guide, and intercede on our behalf. Mary Magdalene is a saint I hold close to my heart. My birthday falls on her feast day, and over the last few years, she has gently guided me to the foot of the cross and continued to remind me of the importance of remaining at the feet of Jesus. She taught me the importance of patience, remaining silent, and trusting the Lord. Through the silence, I learned to surrender to His will in His time, not my own.

It is because of her love for Jesus that Mary persisted in searching and waiting for Jesus. In moments of hardship, St. Mary Magdalene reminds me to simply show up. To bring all I have and place it at His feet—my tears, fears, anxieties, and suffering—to bring it all and surrender it to Him. There, I have found much healing as He continues to tear down the walls around my heart that have, in the past, prevented deep wounds from being healed.

Mary Magdalene knew the importance of showing up. She understood that she had to show up to seek a deeper relationship with Jesus. Most importantly, she showed up and stayed waiting, committed and dedicated, with love for Jesus Christ.

Ponder:

Do I have the same love for Jesus as St. Mary Magdalene has? Am I persistent enough in my search for Him?

Pray:

Dear St. Mary Magdalene, show me the way to the cross. Teach me to always turn to the cross, seek Jesus persistently, and to remain faithfully His.
