Today's Gospel: Matthew 19:23-30
We are so blessed as Catholics to have the sacraments. With every attendance at Mass we receive the grace and glory of God in the Eucharist. And every time we take advantage of the sacrament of Reconciliation, we receive the consolation and grace of having our sins forgiven and lifted from our shoulders. These are blessings we could not receive at other churches.
Life as a good Christian is difficult. Trying not to sin and treating everyone in perfect kindness is not possible for us fallible humans. That’s why we need God and the graces He gives us through our faith. Jesus knew this and told the disciples in today’s Gospel,
“For men this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”
What an amazing thought that there is not one thing in this whole world that is impossible for God to accomplish! He may not choose to do what we ask, but that’s not because He can’t do it. Usually, the answers to prayers God does give us are even larger than we had imagined. That’s because there is no limit to what He is capable of. Plus, He has providential knowledge of the big picture, awareness far into our future, and knows what will work best for us.
Take your needs to God in prayer and trust in Him to answer them. Thank Him for your faith, His mercy and grace, and all the blessings He has already bestowed on you. Share this prayer with your family today in gratitude.
Ponder:
Do I really believe that with God all things are possible?
Pray:
Almighty Lord, help us to remember that nothing is impossible with You, and You always want what is best for us. Thank you for my Catholic faith and the grace of the sacraments You gave us through Your loving Son.
