Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Luke 17:1-6

Sin. We cannot escape it and sometimes we cannot even recognize it! Forgiveness, we cannot escape either, but we must recognize it and administer it to each other  freely. Offering forgiveness each time we are hurt is what is expected of us, and that is not easy! There are times when forgiveness is harder than others, but they are equally necessary for our salvation.

We must increase our faith and remember the saying “I have a mustard seed, and I am not afraid to use it!” We can move mountains in our lives, crazy situations and hard times, with faith. I have personally never uprooted a tree before, but it would happen if my faith was that strong; I believe it.

This Gospel includes a lot of hard things to grasp. There are times when we cause others to sin, and knowing how seriously Jesus speaks about this should make us pause and consider our daily actions prayerfully. We need to prayerfully consider why Jesus says we must forgive others despite the number of infractions and no matter what. Dying on the cross, after suffering heinous beatings, Jesus forgave us, so, therefore, we can forgive others for much smaller matters. It is a conscious decision every minute of the day. It is up to us, but we have help! Our Holy Mother, the Holy Spirit, our guardian angel, Jesus, and our Heavenly Father all can and will be there for us when we need help.  I love our holy Church for all the gifts of help we have in her!

Ponder:

Who from our spiritual family do you reach out to for help when forgiveness is hard to give?

Pray:

Father, help me to forgive others as you have forgiven me.  Help me to have the faith I need to be the person You made me to be, so that others will learn from my example in forgiveness and faith in You.
