Join us as we reflect, ponder, and pray together inspired by today's Gospel.

Today's Gospel: Luke 21:5-11

In a stress-filled world in which it oftentimes feels like chaos is reigning supreme, it becomes easy to lose sight of our focus on Christ. We focus on earthly cares and on the solutions that the world offers us. It is part of our human nature that we are so disposed to become sidetracked by these things.

Jesus warns us that there will be a lot of strife in our world in the space leading up to the end times but that this is not something that we can predict or anticipate with any certainty. Instead of worrying about when and how this will happen, and about the events leading up to it, Jesus encourages us to stay vigilant to Him alone.

The next logical question, of course, is how we go about doing this? By staying rooted in our faith, the beautiful and comforting traditions of our Church, and in our relationship to Christ as expressed through daily prayer and conversation. We know from our human relationships that they require tending on a regular basis, just as you would nurture a fledgling flower in your garden. Each day, it is important to reach out to our heavenly Father and discuss our day and our worries with Him. By staying rooted in His loving care, we can stay focused on what really matters.

Ponder:

What times throughout the day would be ideal for a prayerful check-in with my heavenly Fatherly?

Pray:

Lord, so often I am distracted by the things of this world, and I allow them to carry my thoughts and actions away from You. Help me to stay always rooted in You and in the comfort You offer through Your Church.
