Today's Gospel: Luke 21:29-33

The last days of our earthly world is not something I like to think about. Although my faith is strong, Revelation reveals that hard times will lead to the second coming of Christ, but we must live through them first.

In living through the past couple of years and the pandemic, it is hard not to wonder if this is one of the last seven plagues. This, combined with other events, has certainly created turmoil in our nation and our world. We have seen countries fighting against each other for goods and services. We have been told it is okay to go to parties but not to church, as if the virus picks and chooses based on the event people are attending. Families have been torn apart because of the decision to be vaccinated or not.

In Luke, we are told that we will be seized and persecuted, and it is disheartening to think how often this is happening around the world. More often than any of us would like to think about, I am sure. We will be tested in our faith, questioned, and made to give a testimony. We are told that we will be hated by all because of His name, but we are not to fear for “not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives." (Luke 21:18-19) And, "Rembember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking.” (Luke 21:14-15)

We must remember that we will not go through the hard times alone, whether they are the end times or the ‘now. Do not be anxious, for He will give us the wisdom to speak the truth. As Christians, we have chosen this path knowing that the reward will be great and wonderful, and He has promised us a world of peace in His everlasting kingdom.

Ponder:

Are you willing to suffer and be hated by others because you are a child of God?

Pray:

Lord, help us to remember that through the good times and bad, You are always near. Help us to seek Your wisdom when the time comes to give our testimony.
