Book Talk, Time Change Edition

Well hello from an hour later...I'll just say nothing about the Evil Also Known As The Time Change. It didn't help my reading, that's for sure. But then, maybe nothing could. We had a Weekend.

That's my eight-year-old, who had the time of her life serving at Confirmation for the Bishop. "Maybe someday I'll get to serve for the POPE!" she said in the car afterward.

A girl (and a mom) can dream, right? :)

Big Hearted: Inspiring Stories from Everyday Families, by Patti Armstrong & Theresa Thomas (Scepter, 2013)

Confession: I've been putting off reading this book. Fact: I'm enjoying it A LOT. Warning: have tissues on hand (or maybe it's just me). I'll be writing more about it, and I'd better finish it this week or I'm going to throw my whole review schedule off... :)

Totus Tuus: A Consecration to Jesus through Mary with Blessed John Paul II, by Fr. Brian McMaster (Our Sunday Visitor, 2013)

I started this quite by accident. As I was preparing a post about new Mary books, I happened to notice that the TODAY is the day to start total consecration to Jesus through Mary to end by the December 8 feast of the Immaculate Conception. Guess that's no accident, huh?

Under the Mantle: Marian Thoughts from a 21st Century Priest, by Donald H. Calloway, MIC (Marian Press, 2013)

Fr. Calloway makes me nod and nod and NOD. And laugh too. Finishing this book will be a bittersweet moment. On the one hand, I'll be relieved in some ways that relate to my extreme OCD desires to have it done. On the other hand, it really is a delightful book. And thorough. And different than any other Marian book I've read.
