Today's Gospel: Mark 8:1-10

This Scripture calls to mind several things.  First, Jesus illustrates compassion.  He is thoughtful of the fact that these people have been with him for several days, have nothing to eat, and some have traveled great distances to be with him.

Second, I am reminded that God will always provide for me; that I should not fret but have faith that God will see me through.

Third, God reminds me that all things are possible through Christ.  This Scripture touches on the very essence of Christ and the mission he invites us to share in.

These beautiful words touch my heart.  They take me back to the basics…asking me to have compassion towards others, faith in Christ, and remind me that through Christ all things are possible.

This Scripture also calls upon me to give to others as Christ has given to us.  Christ invites each of us on this mission.

Ponder:

Are you willing to accept the challenge and answer the call to be compassionate towards others?  As you go about your daily routine, cease hold of the opportunities that offer you the chance to follow in Christ’s footsteps, offering compassion to those in need.  You’ll be surprised what even a small deed can mean to someone.

Pray:

Dear God, you’ve provided the perfect example of compassion through Christ.  I ask that I may follow Christ’s example and show Christ’s compassion to all I meet this day.  Amen.
