Today's Gospel: John 3:16-18
God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish
but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
God gave us the greatest gift we could ever want or need…his only Son. Through Christ God gives us the gift of eternal life. Through Christ’s sacrifice we are given salvation. When I reflect on this Scripture I am overwhelmed by how much God loves each of us. As a mother, I find it hard to comprehend loving (all of mankind) so much that I would be willing to give up one of my children. I admit I am selfish and shortsighted. God was able to see the big picture, to see the greater need of salvation for mankind.
Ponder:
God illustrates love, selflessness and generosity. How can we take God’s example and apply it to our own lives? As we start this day off let us reflect on the gift of salvation God has given us.
Pray:
Dear Father, help me to set aside my selfishness and embrace the love you have given to me through your Son, Jesus Christ. Help me to make my life mission to share your Word with others so that they too may embrace your love. Amen.
