Daily Gospel Reflection for June 21, 2014

Today's Gospel: Matthew 6:24-34

What mom does not need to hear this Gospel every single day?

Now I ask, do you have enough? Are you clothed and fed? Do you have shelter? Are all of your basic needs met? If they are, I am going to challenge you.

"Look at the birds in the sky;
they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns,
yet your heavenly Father feeds them."

As you go about your day in your home or in your office, take stock of the things which you do not need or do not use. Could you bless someone else with those possessions? Each day this week, try to find one thing that your family can do without. Pass it along to someone or an organization that can put it to good use.

There is no point in hanging on to things "just in case." God will provide. Trust Him.

Ponder:

Do you have enough? Do I need more? What drives me to want?

Pray:

Lord, satisfy me. Show me the things in my life that stand in the way of feeling like I have enough. Remove these idols from my life and help me only see you.
