Michelle Quigley's recently-published novel, Hush Hush, revolves around a tale that cannot be told.

hush hush coverA brutal attack leaves a normally cheerful girl withdrawn and isolated, with a secret she feels she can't reveal even to her closest friends and family members.

Set in World War II-era Northern Ireland, this novel draws the reader in with its delightful main character, who endures her suffering silently, in a misguided attempt to protect her family. Even as this destroys her relationship with some of her family members, Molly refuses to speak out. She chooses the appearance of guilt rather than expose the truth about her attacker.

As I stayed up way too late reading this novel, my heart went out to Molly and I found myself wishing that things would turn out well for her. I loved that the people around her let her know they were available to help or to listen, even when she refused that assistance or listening ear.

The plot twist at the end was a perfect way to bring the story to a satisfying close.

This book is appropriate for teens as well as adults.

Hush Hush is available at Amazon in paperback and Kindle format.
