Today's Gospel: John 16:20-23
Optional Memorial of Saint Isidore
What a beautiful Gospel we have today. This Gospel offers us hope. Though we may endure suffering now, one day our sufferings will be a long lost memory. Jesus promises us that one day he “will see [us] again, and [our] hearts will rejoice, and no one will take [our] joy away from [us].” That promise eases the pain of suffering. Knowing that one day I will be with Christ and the joy he offers me will be everlasting, comforts me.
Ponder:
On this day, how can I offer up my suffering to Christ? How can I share the promise of Christ with those around me who suffer?
Pray:
Father, today I come to you with my suffering. Please ease my pain with the promise of eternal salvation and joy. Help me to share the joy you offer me with others.
