Today's Gospel: Luke 17:7-10
Memorial of Saint Leo the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church
Holy days of obligation interrupt life. Going to Mass and praying more on these days seems to get in the way. My minimalism is my idol, and the reality of my unprofitable attitude denies the imperishable image I have been given. My affection for my daily routine is not God.
Therefore, I decide to deny myself. I want to intentionally allow the obligation as a sacrifice in my imperishable nature to participate in the justice and mercy of today.
I want to be the mystical body of Christ. Lord, make me a true servant.
Ponder:
In what ways has the truth of my current state shown me what I prefer over God?
Pray:
I pray it, and I want to mean it: Lord, let me seek you first over all things. Amen.
