Today's Gospel: Luke 1:39-45
Fourth Sunday of Advent
Blessed are you who believed.
Mary’s faith. Mary’s trust. What a role model she is for us. When Gabriel made his announcement, she said yes. She made an act of great, living faith.
Elizabeth recognizes this when Mary comes to see her. She says to Mary, “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled” (Luke 1:45).
Elizabeth, too, had faith. She recognizes Mary as the mother of the Lord. She feels the movement of her son in her womb. She is filled with the Holy Spirit and trusts the knowledge she has been given.
Mary and Elizabeth. Filled with joy and trust in their Lord, the two come together to praise God and to share their faith.
I know I have faith. I have enough faith to know that God is always with me, even during the worst of times.
But do I have enough faith to believe in the impossible? Do I have enough faith to believe that God can and will do the impossible in my life?
Ponder:
How do you share your faith?
Are you able to recognize Jesus’ presence in others?
Do you believe in the impossible?
Pray:
Dear Lord, thank you for all the blessings in my life. Help me to see the miracles of my life. Help me to grow in my faith. Amen.
