Emily Jaminet introduces her new book about ten ways to welcome the Sacred Heart of Jesus into your home and your life.

I have seen firsthand that true miracles and transformation can happen when the Sacred Heart is welcomed into an individual's life through this life-changing devotion, so I took the time to write about it in my new book, Holy Habits from the Sacred Heart: Ten Ways to Build Stronger More Loving Relationships

The Sacred Heart of Jesus longs to restore, renew, and transform our hearts, home lives, and essential relationships. As hearts have grown cold, confused, weary, and broken due to sin and the demands of life, we need to welcome Jesus so He can set our hearts on fire with His love, heal our wounds, and bring us the graces we long to experience. When we turn to the loving heart of Jesus and embrace these virtues and practices, God can and will pour out His graces!

This December 2023 marks the 350th anniversary of Jesus appearing to St. Margaret Mary, and I believe now is the perfect time to live out and share this life-changing devotion. Jesus brings guidance, inner peace, and consolation in the midst of our trials and the graces we need to live out our faith.  St. Margaret Mary once said,

The sacred heart of Christ is an inexhaustible fountain and its sole desire is to pour itself out into the hearts of the humble so as to free them and prepare them to lead lives according to his good pleasure. From this divine heart three streams flow endlessly. The first is the stream of mercy for sinners; it pours into their hearts sentiments of contrition and repentance. The second is the stream of charity which helps all in need and especially aids those seeking perfection in order to find the means of surmounting their difficulties. From the third stream flow love and light for the benefit of his friends who have attained perfection; these he wishes to unite to himself so that they may share his knowledge and commandments and, in their individual ways, devote themselves wholly to advancing his glory. This divine heart is an abyss filled with all blessings, and into the poor should submerge all their needs. It is an abyss of joy in which all of us can immerse our sorrows. It is an abyss of lowliness to counteract our foolishness, an abyss of mercy for the wretched, an abyss of love to meet our every need. (The Letters of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Apostle of the Sacred Heart, 146)

In the book, I also share family and personal testimonies, teaching, many powerful saint quotes, and practical ways to change your life by allowing the Sacred Heart to touch your heart. St. Margaret also shared,

It seems to me that the greatest desire that our Lord has that His Sacred Heart should be honored by some particular worship is to renew in souls the effects of His Redemption. (321)

I didn't write this book for already "pious and perfect Catholics," but for all of us who are finding it hard to be docile with the Lord, or might be struggling with being unforgiving, judgmental, harsh in our actions and words, or experiencing the breakdown of key relationships. Jesus is always offering us His Sacred Heart as our refuge to renew and strengthen us, and in the book, you will learn ways to honor the Lord by seeking new graces.

My mom, JoAnn Wilson, shares these words when I asked her to share a testimony about what she has witnessed from this devotion in her own life:

Looking back, I know the Sacred Heart was the "corner stone" of faith devotion for my grandparents and parents and their families. It was the "air they breathed " filling hearts and homes now for four generations in our family and perhaps even beyond. We can attest to God keeping His promises through, sickness, wars, sorrows and joys. They stood firm in their trust and faith and in the end Jesus was victorious in their dying in Him and His Sacraments of Love.

May you encounter His Most Sacred Heart, practice this devotion in your own family life, and share it with others!
