Today's Gospel: Matthew 13:10-17
In today’s Gospel, we are urged to be open to transformation in our spiritual life. Jesus is talking about being open to transformation and a key word stands out in His words: listen.
Oh man, listening is not easy for many of us. Technology has given us many platforms — including social media — that enable us to share our beliefs, thoughts, and feelings. However, this is where we often hit a spiritual plateau. A life with Jesus is not entirely about doing more and serving more.
Service is a spiritual byproduct of a life with Jesus but burnout from serving is not healthy. To prevent burnout and be made whole (also known as holiness), we must listen more to Jesus and others. Our presence is far more meaningful to others than our words on social media.
Ponder:
Do you listen in your prayer times with God? How do you normally approach prayer?
Pray:
Jesus, we thank you for your love. May you still our hearts and minds so we hear more of you amidst the rush of life.
