Today's Gospel: John 3:22-30
As we get older and attain positions of authority, we can sometimes elevate ourselves in our own minds. Even as parents, we can automatically assume we are making the right decisions for our children simply because we are the adult. However, Jesus calls us to submit to His authority, humbling ourselves out of reverence for Him. When we decrease so that He increases, we begin to mother our children more intentionally. We begin to ask God for wisdom before correcting behavior or before setting a boundary. We grow in our marriages and in our own personal walks with Christ.
In our Gospel reading today, we hear that the best man “rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice.” When we walk in humility, we begin to find more joy in our relationship with Christ, and we tune our ears to listen for that voice.
Ponder:
How can we practically decrease so that Christ can increase?
Pray:
Lord, help me to seek Your voice and wisdom daily so that I can be a better wife, mother, and follower of You. Give me opportunities to serve You and others often.
