Reflect on Jesus' healing mission in today's Gospel and discover the powerful devotion to the Infant of Prague, offering hope and peace in times of need.
Today's Gospel: Mark 1:29-39
Today’s Gospel reminds us that Jesus came to heal—not only physical illnesses, but the wounds of the heart and soul. We see Him moving from house to house, person to person, offering comfort, restoration, and peace. His mission was deeply personal, yet always outward-facing. He sought out the broken and the weary, offering what only He could give: divine healing and hope.
As we reflect on this Gospel, we also celebrate the Feast of the Infant of Prague, a powerful devotion to the Christ Child that has comforted hearts for centuries. Though the image is small, crowned, and dressed in royal robes, it speaks volumes about the tenderness and power of Jesus. The devotion reminds us that Jesus, true God and true man, became a child so we could approach Him in trust.
The history of the Infant of Prague includes miraculous healings and answered prayers, especially when devotees placed their complete trust in God’s providence. Those who turned to the Infant Jesus with childlike faith discovered peace in times of chaos, healing in suffering, and strength in hardship.
As Catholic parents, grandparents, and caregivers, we’re often the ones others turn to for comfort. But we, too, need healing, restoration, and reassurance. The Infant Jesus invites us to come to Him with our needs, big and small, and to place our families, health, and worries into His hands.
Today, pause and picture the Infant of Prague. Let His gaze remind you: He is both King and Child, mighty and merciful. Jesus heals. And in every stage of life, especially the uncertain ones, we can trust Him with everything.
Ponder:
How can we trust Jesus with our worries and needs, just as people did when they came to Him for healing?
Pray:
Lord Jesus, help us to trust in Your healing love each day. Guide our family to turn to You with faith and hope in every moment.
Pray Together:
Gather as a family today to offer a simple prayer before an image of the Infant of Prague, asking Jesus to bring healing, peace, and trust into your home and into the hearts of your children
