Today's Gospel: Matthew 12:38-42
In this prayerful passage, Jesus points us away from miraculous signs and toward our faith. The resurrection of Jesus is all that is needed to know that anything is possible with God. If we attack our dilemmas with the confidence and knowledge that God loves us and desires all things for our good, then the resurrection of Jesus is all we need to cling to; the rest we can let go.
The Ignatian method of imaginative prayer is often helpful in bringing Jesus into anything you need to clarify. The alternative to searching for signs that you are walking on God’s path is building a relationship with Jesus. As you pray, invite Jesus into your moment or situation and have a conversation. Close your eyes and feel and hear what your heart is telling you. Engage by telling Jesus the emotions you are sensing and let go of any expectations.
Tell Jesus of your belief in Him to move mountains and ask for the Holy Spirit as a guide. As a relationship with Jesus grows, peace in all situations will become part of you. Discernment in prayer takes practice and requires an open and willing heart. Becoming in tune with God’s presence and work in your life will bloom beautifully as your relationship grows.
Ponder:
People see Jesus through you and me. We can be that visible sign for those seeking to believe the truth and wisdom of our God. What in your life shines the light of Jesus for others to see?
Pray:
Heavenly Father, my faith in Jesus gives me a glimpse into Your plan for my life, and I know that all things will work for my good because You love me. Please Lord, send the Holy Spirit as a light and guide toward Your will for my life.
