Today's Gospel: Luke 13:31-35
Adversity can appear when we least expect it; sometimes, we can sense it brewing like a storm in the distance. In this passage of Luke, Jesus steps up, persisting in the face of adversity. In taking His stand, Jesus continues to follow God’s call, knowing shelter will come under His Father’s care.
God’s help is always available to us, no matter the circumstance. Sometimes, we must take a proactive approach to alleviating any fear that comes with adversity. Jesus’s role in gathering the children together reminds me of the church community. The pastor and members of your parish are a great army, one that can help in adverse situations. Fellowship with one another becomes a way in which we do not have to face adversity in our faith alone.
Ponder:
How can I best place my fears aside and stand up for Christ in times of adversity?
Pray:
Heavenly Father, I am thankful and blessed to know that You always watch out for me. Bless me, Lord, with the desire to stand up for my faith and place fear aside in difficult times.
